Qualifications

Helen has a Masters of Counselling as well as a Bachelor of Arts and Diploma of Education. She is a registered psychologist, a member of the Australian Psychological Society and a registered practitioner with Medicare. She was a registered teacher until the end of 2009. She is also a registered yoga teacher.

Helen is a psychologist who has expertise in leadership training and dealing with conflict across corporate, government and community based organizations, She also offers clinical and counselling services for a broad range of issues and has worked for many years in the area of trauma. Helen utilizes current systemic thinking, brain research, solution focused and strengths based models to draw out clients’ direction, goals and strategies. Her clinical training offers insights into where people get stuck and she is very aware of the qualities and skills that will assist people to develop as a leader and grow as a person. She is highly skilled in managing the interactive dynamics of a group whilst drawing out and affirming each individual’s strengths. Her coaching and training work includes service delivery to Catholic Education, Queensland Health, State Rail, University of Queensland, the Australian College of Applied Psychology and numerous community based organizations. Helen utilizes a practical and dynamic style. She focuses on building trust and uses adult learning principles to match various people’s needs.. Helen motivates people to achieve their professional and personal goals.

 

 

 

 

Experience

Helen's background as a teacher in high school and as a psychologist with individuals, couples and families has given her a pragmatic and informed set of tools to work with people. Her experience in theatre has taught her how to bring things to life in a learning environment. Her administrative/ management experience, including deputy director role at the Australian College of Applied Psychology, has given her insight into some of the systemic issues organizations face. 

Helen has delivered a large range of workshops over the past decades, including topics like Stress Management, Time Management, Building more Effective Relationships and Managing Change.

Helen has regularly co-facilitated Leadership and Energizing from Conflict training across South East Queensland as a consultant for QUT, working with Queensland Health Staff. She continues to engage in various organizational work, including strategic planning, one - on - one coaching, organistational planning and team development.
